IRONMEN FOOTBALL AND CHEER 9/18/2022 Varsity @ Westmoreland

The North Pittsburgh Catholic Ironmen organization is coming off of a second sweep of a team from the south, the St. Louise Trojans.  As they enter week 3, the Ironmen teams all remain in 1st place  in their respective divisions.

The Ironmen Varsity team is set to face off with Westmoreland for the 2nd straight game on the road.  While the varsity team looks to improve their record to 3-0, the JV and Developmental team will be on their bye week, and look to get some rest before heading to play Erie Catholic on the road.

Last season the Westmoreland Varsity team finished the season with a 2-3 record and were 0-1 against the Ironmen Varsity in an offensive battle that witnessed both teams put up over 30 points. Westmoreland would later exit the playoffs in the first round with a loss to the Seneca Valley Raiders.

The Westmoreland team is coming off of a tough loss of 26-16 against Seneca Valley last week, while the Ironmen are coming off of a dominant 42-14 win over the St. Louise Trojans.

VARSITY IRONMEN

The Varsity Ironmen are coming off of consecutive commanding win against the St. Louise Trojans with the score of 42-14.  The Ironmen continue to get points on the board coming out of the hands of Louie Iaquinta, in a very commanding way.

From the start of the game, the Ironmen released the arsenal of Sean Miller, Ryan Snyder and Xiah Ninehouser on the offensive front, combining for 6 touchdowns.

The Iron Clad D was led by Jimmy Kalis (6 tackles, 3 for loss), John Flerl (3 tackles 2 for loss) and Hunter Chimenti (3 tackles 1 for loss) and Will Waskiewicz who registered an interception and fumble recovery.  The Defense again was able to register 3 turnovers as they continue to be a force to reckon with.

The Varsity team continues their 3 game road stretch and hopes of coming home on October 2nd with a 4-0 record. And as always,  they continue to be content BUT NOT SATISFIED!

JV FOOTBALL

The JV Ironmen team continues to steam roll their opponents in the first 2 games.  With a huge 28-0 win over the St. Louise Trojans, the JV team has now scored 58 points to their opponents 0.  With a strong 8 quarters of defense and shut out ball over their first 2 games, the JV Iron Clad Defense is getting themselves a name around the league. Some teams fear them, some teams want to be like them. A resilient team that will not give an inch to their opponent such as the game against St. Louise.

As the JV team enters the Bye week, they remain the ONLY JV team that has not been scored upon yet this season and 1 of 3 teams in the entire Pittsburgh Diocese League that has not been scored upon. Cheers to the JV road warriors as the look to continue the pounding until they return home 10/2.
